A Week in the Age of AI in Architecture
We're collecting our thoughts this week, assessing how things are going, and trying to boost things that work and avoid things that might lead to a burnout. Let's check it out.
Hey there, readers of the RBDSai Lab’s Substack! I’m back this week, and I want to start with a quick poll to see if you guys are reading the newsletter every week or do you fall behind on it. Take the poll so that I know you’ve read it!
I also want to see if you are enjoying the newsletter, find it valuable, want something specific, or want to whisper some of your secret desires into my ear. This survey below is going to determine the frequency and the content of the newsletter from next week on. Please take the survey, it helps us tailor the content better rather than working tirelessly on something that doesn’t stick!

Updates from the RBDSai Lab:
It has been a whirlwind of speeches and workshops on AI in architecture, not to mention some really interesting collaborations underway with some wonderful people from all over the country, and a lot more coming up. I’m fearing that I risk burnout and I have decided that I should start saying “No” more often. Mainly to those requests that start with “I just wanted to get your opinion on….”
In the last couple of weeks, I have delivered introductory lectures on AI for architects and conducted hands-on corporate workshops for architecture and interior design firms to help them get started with AI integration into their practices. Here’s a glimpse of things:

In the weeks ahead, RBDSai Lab is honoured to be at the AI Week 2024 in Qatar with a booth showcasing our AI Architectural artwork throughout the week and a keynote on AI in Architecture for the Qatar Technological University. I’m also conducting a day-long workshop on the Fundamentals of AI for Architects at Visakhapatnam. You can register for it here: The Utsav at Vizag
At the end of November, I have some exciting stuff happening at the DesignURU 4.5 in Bangalore with an Interactive workshop on AI in Architecture. Later in December, delivering a keynote at the Eastern Regional Conference at Ranchi on the role of AI and sustainability in modernising architecture.

Realtime Spatial Design
Recently, we have been experimenting with real-time spatial design where generative AI can help come up with initial concept ideas for architecture and interiors with everyday objects or basic 3D models. It is potentially even possible to imagine something on your empty site using the power of a few GenAI tools and a few minutes. Here’s a look at what we’ve been doing:
I’m Sahil Tanveer of the RBDSai Lab signing off for the week. I promote, consult, and apply AI for Architects along with my Architecture and Design Studio, RBDS. If you liked this Substack,
You will love my book, DELIRIOUS ARCHITECTURE: Midjourney for Architects. It is a 330-page hardcover showcasing the potential of AI in Architectural Design. It is available on Amazon worldwide.
You can bend your minds with our WhatsApp channel AI IN ARCHITECTURE where we talk about AI and its impact on us and the built environment.
You can consult with us on AI for your architecture studio. We have multiple levels of learning and integration starting from a Beginners session to the AIMM Assessment and beyond. Get in touch with us at sahil@rbdsailab.com or check out our page www.rbdsailab.com
I’m talking about AI. Our team is set to visit key cities of India for architectural conferences, Podcasts and exclusive student interactions at architecture schools. We’d love to come over for an engaging meetup, hands-on workshop, or a creative collab. Enquiries to sahil@rbdsailab.com
